Year-round Research Projects

Camp Tamias research does not end when summer camp is over. Throughout the year, our faculty mentors guide students as they continue developing independent research projects in biology, environmental science, and computational fields. Students learn how to design experiments, collect and analyze data, and present their findings in formal scientific formats. Many projects culminate in regional and national science fairs, where students gain experience presenting their work to professional judges and the broader scientific community.

Our Year-Round Research program transforms highly motivated teenagers into active scientific contributors through a rigorous, year-long academic workflow extending well testing seasons. Driven by student curiosity, projects span advanced scientific domains, such as utilizing transcriptomics and bioinformatics to study gene expression, or exploring behavioral neuroscience to uncover the molecular mechanisms of memory. This intense commitment requires several hours each week dedicated to independent literature reviews, advanced experimental design, and regular supervisor check-ins. The expected payoff is an unassailable foundation for higher education success; students emerge with fully realized original portfolios, submission-ready papers for high-stakes science research grants, and the advanced analytical confidence required to excel on AP exams and in university laboratory settings.

Courses

Our campers are students ages 10–15 who are curious, motivated, and ready to engage seriously with challenging material.

Beginning at age 12, students may attend independently. Younger campers attend with a parent. For families who travel together, we provide private accommodations.
